My experience:

My ex continues to put pressure on the kids, casting himself as the victim. He tells them, “Your mom doesn’t want us to talk. She’s trying to erase me from your life. I’m going to talk to my lawyer and youth protection services!”  He keeps insisting that I’m unstable and that’s why I’m trying to cut contact.

Explanation:

Even though the victim in this scenario is trying to protect her mental health by focusing on herself and her kids, she can end up feeling trapped because the abuser is constantly turning the situation back on her.
