I decide to go to the police station.

My experience:

I go to the police station. A police officer greets me and I tell her that I suspect that my ex has been following me.

I tell her about how I’ve been living in fear, how I can’t leave the house without being on high alert. Ultimately, she tells me that without any concrete proof, it would be hard to take things further.

I leave, feeling helpless. I finally told someone, but now I feel like it was useless.

Explanation:

Even if no immediate action is taken, reporting the incident is an important step. Later on, your statement can be used as evidence in legal proceedings or to establish a pattern of coercive control.
